APRIL FOOL’S DAY

The Question:
‘O our Shaykh we have a question here via email from the Miraath al-Anbiyaa website, asking about something that has become common nowadays, which is known as April Fools’ Day’. Perhaps you have a few words to say about this, may Allaah protect you.’

Shaykh Muhammad bin Hadi al-Mudkhali
‘In the Name of Allaah The Most Kind The Most Merciful.

All Praise be to Allaah Lord of the Worlds and praise and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon his family and all his Companions.
There After:

Indeed Allaah – Subhanahu wa Ta’ala- has commanded in His Book to be truthful and honest. He ordered that one should adhere to truthful people.

Allaah – Jala wa Ulaa- said:

<< O you who have believed, fear Allah and be with those who are true.>> [Tawbah: 119]
The Prophet -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- prohibited lying and regarded it as being from the major sins.
He -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- said:

And beware of lying, indeed lying leads to evil deeds. A man continues to lie and is not careful about lying until he is written with Allaah as a liar.’ [Collected by Bukhari & Muslim]
Therefore, if this is the case, then it is obligatory upon the Muslim that he fear Allaah concerning himself, and adhere to the command of his Lord. The Muslim should obey Allaah’s Messenger -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- and he should indeed warn against lying, since lying is prohibited in all its colours and forms. The severity of its prohibition increases if it is done to make people laugh.

What we know about this matter which is being asked about, and has become widespread amongst the Muslims in recent times, is that regretfully the source of this is the Jews and the Christians, and the lands of the west and the east from all of these people together. Indeed they lie like this to make the people laugh, or so that the people remember the one who lies, and that he becomes famous by that lying, and that he is written in to the world of celebrities.

As for us, the Muslims, then the Prophet -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- said:

‘Woe to the man who lies to make the people laugh, woe to him, woe to him.’
It is obligatory upon all of us that to be wary of this lying. This issue which you question, is concerning lying on April fool’s day it is prohibited, due to two points:
The first is that it is lying and we have all heard the statement of the Prophet -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- when he said:

‘And beware of lying, indeed lying leads to evil deeds, and indeed evil deeds lead to the Fire. A man continues to lie and is not careful about lying until he is written with Allaah as a liar.’ [Collected by Bukhari & Muslim]

So this is one matter.
And the second matter is: that the seriousness of the forbiddance of lying and the reason for its prohibition, in addition to it being principally prohibited is that it is a matter of imitating the Kuffar (non-Muslims). These non-Muslims lie and they carry out such false matters, and perhaps they bring a great lie, and mention a great calamity, which they circulate and propagate especially using modern day media. This news spreads from the east to the west and it terrifies a lot, then later on it becomes known that there was no basis for that news.

Likewise, a Muslim lies to frighten his brother Muslim and causes him to become scared and due to that he becomes terrified, and perhaps he might even become afflicted with an illness. For example it is said to him, that such and such died from those who are beloved to you like a father, brother, son or daughter, or like if someone says: your house has been robbed, or your house has burnt down, etc. from these great matters, which probably cause a person to lose his mind and intellect. And perhaps he becomes sick, then what occurs from this lie is the responsibility of the liar.

So this lying done on April Fool’s Day is even more prohibited due to the great evil which involves imitating the Kuffar in this aspect.

Therefore, it is obligatory upon the Muslims to strictly warn against lying, and not to take the disbelieving enemies of Allaah has an example, indeed Allaah –Subhanahu wa Ta’ala- ordered them to be with the truthful.

<< O you who have believed, fear Allah and be with those who are true.>> [Tawbah: 119]
The Prophet -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- said:

‘The Muslim is he from whom the Muslims are secure from his tongue and hand.’

If a person lies to frighten the people then the Muslims are not secure from his tongue.
I ask Allaah that He grant us all the understanding of the Deen and insight into it, and to follow the Messenger of Allaah -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- and be cautious of imitating the disbelievers from those of the east and the west, and to be cautious of following the ways of the Jews and the Christians. This is what the Prophet -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- informed us about, so it is not something strange that will occur in the Ummah of Islaam. They will take the Jews and the Christians as examples, and follow them identically, and they will walk behind them hand span for hand span, and forearm by forearm even if they were to enter a lizard’s hole we would enter into it.
I ask Allaah that He grant all of us the following of Allaah’s messenger and to be cautious of what our Lord – Tabarak wa Ta’ala- is displeased with, and that is by being away from these things and not to resemble the enemies of Allaah, the disbelievers. And that we adhere to the path of Islaam which is correct, and the straight way of Allaah, indeed He is The Bestower of Goodness, The Generous.

May Allaah send Praise, Peace and bless His slave and His Messenger, our Prophet Muhammad and upon his Family, his Companions and those who follow him in goodness.’

May Allaah reward you with good O Shaykh.’

Shaykh, I’m unemployed, someone told me to repeat: ‘Ya Razzaq’ 111 times before going to bed, is it correct?

If this is your concept of Islam, then you are totally mistaken. In Islam there is no ‘Hocus Pocus’ which when you utter, something magical happens.

Yes, there are supplications mentioned in the Qur’an and Sunnah, the greatest being the words of Yunus when he was in the belly of the whale:

لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنتَ سُبحانَكَ إِنِّي كُنتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ
But these supplications are no ‘Hocus Pocus’, rather they are words carrying deep meaning, and it is the meaning which is most important coupled with the full faith, reliance, and turning of the heart towards Allah in the time of need.
In fact, if a person were to turn to Allah with full sincerity and reliance at the time of need, any sincere words of supplication in any language would be enough to achieve Allah’s mercy and relief. Allah has mentioned time and again that the Makkan pagans used to sincerely call upon him at the time of distress, esp. when at sea, knowing that no one could help them except He, and Allah would respond to their prayers and give them relief. What did they use to say? Which Zikr did they recite for 111 times?
So if your heart is not turning to Allah, rather to this contact or that link, than parroting some words without them emanating from the bottom of your heart, or at least understanding what you are saying, will be of little, if any, benefit.

Do Not Neglect Your Duties

Shaykh Uthaimeen (rahimahullaah) said:

If we ponder over the conditions of the people today, we will find that many of them are not dutiful to their parents. Rather they are disobedient. You will find him being good to his friends, and does not become bored from sitting with them, but if he were to sit with his father or mother for one hour of the day, you will find him bored, as if he were on a hot coal. So this one is not one who is dutiful. Rather, the dutiful one is the one who opens his heart to his mother or father, and he serves them over all things and he is dillegent upon pleasing them with everything he can.

[Shar al-Wasitittiyah (3/121)]
Today, we realise that it is not limited to sitting with friends but also being online on social media and calls with friends even those who do not benefit them. You see them engaging in baseless arguments and insults. They comment on everything as if it is their ticket to enter Jannah while neglecting their parents and families.
We ask Allaah to grant us hidayah.

The Levels of Knowing Allāh*

Knowing Allāh subḥānah is of two types:

First, an awareness that leads to affirmation [of God’s existence], this [knowledge] is common amongst all people: the righteous, the evil; the obedient, the disobedient.
Second, an awareness that necessitates shyness from Him, love for Him, attaching the heart to Him, yearning to meet Him, fearing Him, turning to Him and repenting to Him, finding solace in Him, and fleeing from the creation to Him.
This is a special awareness that is known to a certain people. The level of discrepancy of this awareness amongst people cannot be fathomed except by the One who has made Himself known to them, and Who has made some hearts aware of Him in a way that He has concealed to others, and this awareness with each person is indicated by his status [with Allāh] and how much [Allāh] has revealed to him.
The most knowledgeable of creation ﷺ said about Him, ❝I do not count any praise for you, You are as You have praised Yourself.❞ He ﷺ also said that on the Day of Resurruction, Allāh the Almighty will reveal some words of praise [to the Prophet ﷺ] that he is unable to utter now.
The second type of awareness has two broad categories:
1. Thinking about and reflecting on all the Qurʾānic verses, and having a deep understanding of [the speech of] Allāh and of His Messenger ﷺ.
2. Thinking about His observable signs and reflecting on His Wisdom in them, [and reflecting on] His Power, His Gentleness, His Kindness and His Fairness, and [reflecting on how He] always maintains His creation with justice.
The sum of the two types of knowledge:
To be knowledgeable of the meanings of His Beautiful Names, their Majesty, their Perfection, His Uniqueness, and their connection with the creation and the orders of Allāh. The one who has this knowledge will then be an expert in understanding His Commands and Prohibitions, an expert in understanding His Decree and Destiny, an expert in understanding His Names and Attributes, an expert in understanding religious rules and the rules of this universe.
﴿ذَٰلِكَ فَضْلُ اللَّهِ يُؤْتِيهِ مَن يَشَاءُ ۚ وَاللَّهُ ذُو الْفَضْلِ الْعَظِيمِ﴾

﴾Such is the bounty of Allāh which He gives to whom He wills, and Allāh is the possessor of great bounty.﴿ Al-Ḥadīd:21

MUSIC AND SUNNAH

Assalamualaykum
The truth must be told even if it is bitter, Pls read and judge yourself after this…

DON’T LISTEN TO MUSIC
Why did you say that?

Because music is HARAM!!!

Did you say Haram? Is it not a Makrooh?

No! Music falls under the category of haram.

Ok, fine.. What’s your proof?
In Surah Luqman Verse 6, Allah says:
” Among men are those who purchase idle talks to mislead men from the path of Allah “.

The word lahwal hadith according to Ibn Masood, the four Khalifas, the eminent Sahabaah, the Tabieen, the four Imaams and other reliable Islamic scholars and authorities have agreed that it is referred to as al-ghina or music.
In Sahih al-Bukhari, Vol 7, the book of drinks

no 5590 reported by Abu Malik Al-Ashari that…

`There will be people of my Ummah who will seek to make lawful; fornication, wine-drinking and the use

of maaazif (musical instruments ).

Seeking to make lawful means they are all unlawful.

So from the verse and the hadith, the four imams

unanimously agreed that music is haram.
But what is Haram about Music?
1) Singing and listening to music is haram

The Prophet said:

Istimahul malahi maa asiyatun – to listen is a major crime

Waljulusu alayha fisqun – to sit in a gathering of

music is an open violation to Allah

Wataladhuzu biya kufrun – to derive pleasure out of music is kafur

The Prophet blocked his ears while he was walking and heard music playing.
2) Purchasing of male and female singers is haram

Ayesha RA narrates that the Prophet (S) said that

Almighty Allah has made unlawful the trade in

singing slave maids, their training and listening to their songs.
3) Purchase of instruments for fun and amusement.

Akramah RA said the Prophet (S) said that;

“Almighty Allah has raised me to destroy flute and the drum.”
But Music has benefits?
Yes it does, just as some says that there is benefit

in the drinking of alcohol so also is music. Some

says music is food for the soul without which

existence is impossible.

Music makes them feel loved, forget about their

problems, relaxes their mind, feel high etc.

But have you ever thought about the negative impact of music?
THE NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF MUSIC
1. Music takes you away from the remembrance of

Allah because Music and Qur’an can’t sit in the

heart at the same time.
2. A waste of precious time: Research proved that an average youth spend at least five hours a day listening to music:
3. It is an audio pornography that makes you lose you moral senses – use of vulgar, shameless and violent words.
4. Music leads to zina: as it arouses the sexual

desires. The Holy Prophet (S) said,” Singing is a ladder to Adultery.”
5. Music is a degradation to the status of women

Islam: Just look at the video clips.
6. Leads to hypocrisy and deprives you from the Rahmah of Allah – Ibn Qayyin Al Jawziyya says that music in one’s heart makes one move away from Allah’s Rahmah. Imam Ja’far As-Sadiq (a.s.) said:

“Music is the nest of hypocrisy.”
7. Takes away the imam like the fire takes away

the bush in the harmattan season.
8. Music is the primary cause for calamities in the dunia: jinn attacks, earth quakes etc. Prophet said that when my Ummah will take fifteen habits, calamities will befall them and among them is

music listening.

Sahl Bin Saad narrates that Holy Prophet (S) said,

“Submersion below the surface of the earth, raining of stones from the sky and mutilation of figures shall come about in my ummat.” The companions asked, “O the Prophet of Allah when shall it happen?” The Prophet (S) there upon said:” When

musical instruments shall be in abundance and there shall be a large number of singing girls and shall be unlawful.”

Ali RA said,”And music and songs give rise to

hypocrisy and is one of the ways leading towards

poverty and hunger.
9. It creates a temporal illusion of madness and

sometimes permanent madness because of the

tension in the brain. It is an intoxicant and one is

unaware of his immediate environment.
10. It create nervous breakdown and even stomach ulcers discovered in France in 1957
11. It has led to lots of violence and deaths: The

daily ‘Kayhan’ (Tehran), No 6626, published a news of the Reuter Agency: About 50,000 youths had gathered in Melbourne (Australia) for a musical concert. The concert overwhelmed them so much that they started assaulting each other with fists and knives. Many were seriously injured; some

girls were molested.
12. Leads to Deafness: Experts says that prolonged exposure to a noise level above 85 decibels will eventually result in a reduction of hearing acuity in

the frequency range most important for understanding the human speech. Dr. Charles Lebo, of the Pacific Medical Centre took measuring

instruments into two San Francis co dance halls

where the cacophony from amplified instruments

caused sound intensity from 100 to 119 decibels in the low frequency range.
13. Will be deprived of listening to the beautiful voice of Allah – Prophet (S) said,” Molten lead will be put in the ears of that person who listens attentively to music and songs”.
14. Music has no barakah and it will never increase your Islamic knowledge… all the songs in the world

couldn’t be compared to Alif, Laam, Meem in

barakah would not be equivalent to them.
CONCLUSION

I conclude by reminding you about our main purpose on this Earth…Allah created us only to worship Him alone and to worship Allah is to obey Him and abstain from what He forbids..

We all know music is difficult to leave but we just have to make the sacrifice in order to please our Creator and Allah says: perhaps you may like something but in reality it is bad for you..

verily the ear, and the eye and the heart, all

of them will be asked. The ear and what it listened to, the eye and what it looked at and the heart and what it intended.”
So If you claimed to be a muslim, then u need to obey Allah by stop listening to music, it might be hard at first but with time you will get over it..just pls be sinere with your repentance make a convent with Allah not to do it again. How bad would have been our position if we die with this habit.

Prophet says Allah will call those who forgo music for His sake and give them Hur’ains to entertain them.
Respected brothers let’s use this medium to end the fitnah of music in our lives, let’s Repent before Allah and ask His forgiveness. May He forgive us, have mercy on us and accept our repentance..Ameen
