“O you who believe! Fear Allah, and be with those who are true (in words and deeds)” [Taubah 9:119].
Today is another day when some people celebrate foolishness, so do not join them. They are the real fools because they don’t know what awaits them. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Woe be to him who tells things, speaking falsely, to make the people laugh, woe to him! Woe to him!”
What will you gain from it? There is no doubt that it is haraam because it is lying, imitating the kufaar, causes lot of calamities to one’s neighbours, families etc, and lot of material and moral losses.
The prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “The signs of a hypocrite are three: Whenever he speaks, he tells a lie…”
In another narration, “Falsehood leads to Al-Fujur (i.e. wickedness, evil-doing), and Al-Fujur (wickedness) leads to the (Hell) Fire, and a man may keep on telling lies till he is written before Allaah, a liar.”
Shaikh Uthaymeen (rahimahullaah) said: “I warn my Muslim brothers against from what some of the idiots have made from April fool’s day and I think that it (April 1st) is near, this is a lie that is made from the non-Muslims. Then along with it being a lie and the lie is prohibited in the Sharee’ah, it includes the imitation of the non-Muslims and the imitation of the non-Muslim is also prohibited. The Prophet said: “Whoever imitates a people is one of them.”
And it includes along with these two prohibitions a humiliation for the Muslim in front of his enemy because it is natural instinct that the one who is being followed, feels he is superior to the one following him and this is humiliation to the believer since he becomes submissive to the disbeliever. The fourth prohibition is that this evil lie involves consumption of wealth with falsehood or it involves deceitful surprise for the Muslim.”
Therefore, let’s fear Allaah, remember the day of Recompense and refrain from April foolishness.
May Allaah increase us in hidayah.
