Lo! Sadaqah Doesn’t Affect Acceptance of your Du’a.

Praise be to Allaah.sadaqa

It is amazing that many people believe that one’s du’a cannot be accepted without sadaqah. This is why you see a person praying on or rubbing something on his/her body before giving it out as sadaqah. In fact, they tell some people the type, time and what to give as sadaqah. SubhanAllaah, this is because they lack understanding of what is sadaqah and its benefits and how to invoke Allaah and when prayers are readily accepted.

Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“O you who believe! Spend of that with which We have provided for you, before a Day comes when there will be no bargaining, nor friendship, nor intercession. And it is the disbelievers who are the Zaalimoon.” [al-Baqarah 2:254]
There are many aayaat and hadith that mentioned sadaqah, types and merits of sadaqah but there is nowhere du’a is conditioned on sadaqah.

Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“And when My slaves ask you (O Muhammad) concerning Me, then (answer them), I am indeed near (to them by My Knowledge). I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me (without any mediator or intercessor). So let them obey Me and believe in Me, so that they may be led alright.” [al-Baqarah 2:186]
This is a promise from Allaah with no condition of sadaqah.
The prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be on him) also told us how to invoke Allaah and when prayers are readily accepted but never mentioned sadaqah is a condition for acceptance.
Therefore, don’t believe that your prayers can’t be accepted without charity. Let’s be persistent and say our du’a the way it was prescribed? Let’s also refrain from sins? However, don’t leave sadaqah, for it serves as protection against hellfire, increase in sustenance etc as mentioned in the Quran and ahadith.
We pray Allaah accept our du’a.

…Abide by the truth even if your mind deserts you.
